Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Threaten Demonstration Over New Excise Tax

 

Plastic manufacturers in Ghana have announced their plans to protest this month over a new tax introduced by the Ghanaian government.

 

According to the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Associstion, the protest will take place on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

 

The Association said the protest is against the newly imposed 5 percent excise tax on locally produced plastic products in Ghana.

 

In a statement issued by its President, Ebow Botwe, the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association expressed dissatisfaction with the tax and announced the demonstration.

 

The statement added that the protest will start from Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, proceed through Accra Technical University, and conclude at the Ministry of Finance.
