Ex-American President, Donald Trump, has asked Americans to “stand united”.
Mr. Trump made the special appeal after surviving an assassination attempt during his Pennsylvania Rally, telling Americans not to allow “evil to win.”
Mr. Trump was shot and rushed off stage at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday in what has been reported as an apparent assassination attempt.
Gunshots reportedly erupted at the presumptive US President’s rally in Pennsylvania, forcing his aids and security details to rush him off stage.
Photos shared online showed Mr. Trump with a bloody ear. As the shooting erupted, Mr. Trump was surrounded by US Secret Service agents and dragged off stage to a waiting vehicle.
Later in a post on his Truth Social media platform, Mr. Trump noted that a bullet pierced the “upper part” of his ear.
The former President wrote:
“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.”
He added: “Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”
Blood was clearly visible on Trump’s ear and face as protection officers rushed him away.
The suspect was shot dead at the scene by US Secret Service officers, the agency’s spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi indicated.
Guglielmi said one bystander was killed in the shooting and two others were critically injured.
