Torrential Rains Leave 8 People Dead In Cote D’Ivoire, Several buildings, cars destroyed

Torrential rains have left at least eight people dead in Abidjan, a city in Cote D’Ivoire. The rains caused massive destructions to buildings and cars, among other.
At least 386 were, however, been rescued. The rains started at 4:00pm on Thursday, June 13, and continued till around 8:00am on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
The rains caused severe damages to houses and cars as well as other properties in several suburbs of Abidjan. Top Ivorian actress and entrepreneur, Marie Paule Adje, had her car damaged due to flooding.
A building in the popular business district, Adjame, collapsed due to the rains. There was no casualty in the building collapse.
The suburbs that were hit hard by the rains were: Yopougon, Rosier Program 5, Angre Petro-Ivoire Down, Carrefour 9 Kilos, Palmeraie St Viateur, Riviera 3 Allabra Reconciliation, and Bingerville.
A court complex believed to have been constructed with millions of FCFA was completely flooded.
Meanwhile, an Ivorian Minister, Ibrahim Bacongo Cisse, has urged Ivorians to help one another, saying “let’s stand in solidarity and help each through this difficult time. Take care and stay safe.”
