Nigeria raids cocaine syndicate headed by Husband and Wife, recovers N 2.1 billion drugs
Operatives Of Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have raided cocaine syndicate headed by a man named Agbakoba John Mmadu and his wife, Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe and their associate, Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane.
An estimated 2.1 billion Naira worth of cocaine was retrieved during the raid in Lagos, according to law enforcement officers.
The raid was conducted by a special operations unit of the Agency. The officers said they carried out the raid following months of intelligence gathering and surveillance on the syndicate.
Accordingly, the syndicate is notorious for packaging and distributing drugs within and outside of Nigeria.
Suspect Agbakoba John Mmadu, aged 54, was nabbed at Ago Palace Way, Okota. His wife, Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe, aged 39, and Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane, 31, who is the alleged stash keeper, were both arrested at Plot 2205 Eugene Ndubisi close, Lilly Estate, Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
Spokesperson of the Nigerian anti-drug Agency told journalists at a press conference that seven parcels of cocaine with a total weight of 7,652 kilograms were recovered from Mmadu at Ago Palace Way.
He added that about 122 pellets of compressed cocaine weighing roughly 2.42 kilograms were also seized from Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe and Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane.
