A Ghanaian senior high school student of O’Reilly Senior High School in Accra, Edward Borketey Sackey, has allegedly been stabbed to death by his fellow student on campus.
The cousin of the late Edward reported that he was stabbed during a fight with his fellow student named Godwin.
Edward is said to have stabbed three times in the chest. According to his father, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the LEKMA Hospital in Accra.
Narrating the incident, Edward’s cousin who was on campus when the incident occurred on September 2, 2024, said the fight resulted from an argument over an issue. Edward, aged 18 had reportedly just finished writing an exam.
She said: “He had a paper in the morning and came to me that he was done with his paper…Few minutes we heard some noise at the back and we asked what’s wrong and they said its Godwin and Edward fighting. I asked what’s the fight about and they said its nothing serious.”
According to her, “The whole thing was about you what do you have? I have this and that, you’re lying. That was what brought the fight. So, I thought the whole thing is nothing.”
She added that: “Few minutes later, the Godwin guy came up to me and asked me to warn my brother or else his blood will flow and I told him it has not gotten to that.”
She further narrated that
Edward, now deceased ran to the teachers who were in school when the chaos started but they “did not do anything.”
