Ex-President Mahama Proposes New City To Ease Congestion In Accra

An ex-President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has suggested the construction of a new to reduce the growing congestion in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate in the 2024 general elections in Ghana, Mr. Mahama says he will begin a feasibility study for the construction of the new city.
He noted that the move is to create a new growth pole and generate thousands of jobs during the construction phase and post construction.
He disclosed that the future city could span three regions namely Greater Accra, Volta, and Eastern.
The former President said Accra would remain the capital city, adding that the new city to be constructed would be close to the Volta Lake.
Mr. Mahama who is seeking a second back to the presidency, says the future city would be a green, digital Metropolis featuring tourist and recreational, industrial parks and financial services centres.
