Ayra Starr Named Amazon Music’s First Afrobeats Breakthrough Artist

Nigerian musician of international acclaim, Ayra Starr, has become Amazon Music’s first afrobeats breakthrough artist.

Ayra Starr featured on the Amazon Music’s Breakthrough playlist for her “Last Heartbreak” song featuring Giveon.

Amazon Music says on its official website that the playlist is “curated” by its “music experts and updated weekly.”

In a social media post expressing her excitement about her new musical achievement, Ayra Starr, the Mavin Records signee, said “I’m so honored to be the first Afrobeats Breakthrough artist for Amazon Music and I’m thrilled to be on this journey with you, my beautiful Mobstarrs.”

‘Last Heartbreak’ is a single off her latest studio album, ‘The Year I Turned 21’ which was released by Mavin Records on May 31, 2024.

The 15-track album – the second for Ayra Starr since her emergence onto the African and global music scene a few years ago – contains fan-favorite songs such: ‘Birds Sing of Money’, ‘Goodbye (Warm Up’ ft. Asake, ‘Commas’, ‘Woman Commando’ ft. Anitta and Coco Jones’, ‘Control’, ‘Lagos Love Story’, as well as ‘Rhythm & Blues’.
