At least 30 people have died, and over 100 others left injured following multiple suicide bombings by suspected female suicide bombers in northeastern Nigeria, according to local authorities.

The alleged bombings took place on Saturday, June 29, 2024.

Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, the Emir of Gwoza, told journalists that the first attack was carried out by a woman on Saturday.

Local media reports say one of the suicide bombings killed six individuals and injured several others at a wedding ceremony on Saturday in Borno State.

According to the Borno State’s Emergency Management Agency, the coordinated attacks first targeted a wedding, the victims’ subsequent funeral and a hospital in the town of Gwoza, which is near the Nigerian border with Cameroon.
