Rodrygo Goes has closed constrovery about his future with Real Madrid.
According to the Brazilian footballer, he has a contract with Real Madrid and he’s certain about staying with the club.
In a social media post after he won the Uefa Champions League with Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, June 1, 2024, Rodrygo says “”I love you, Real Madrid,” kissing “La Orejona,” his second Champions League trophy with Real Madrid, expressing his affection for the club after a week of controversy surrounding his statements before the Wembley showdown.
“Anything can happen,” Rodrygo had told the press during Real Madrid’s media day at their training ground before the final against Dortmund.
He had stated that: “I have a contract here, but the years I’ve been here have been a pleasure for me,” fueling rumors that intensified when an interview he gave weeks earlier, published three days before the final, pointed to Manchester City as “the best team in the world.”
But he has said that his statement was misinterpreted and taken out of context.
“In the interview, I said I still have a contract,” according to him, adding that: “When I say it was a pleasure to be here all these years, I don’t say it because I’m leaving but because it has been a pleasure for me. It’s still a dream, I have a contract, and I’m sure I’ll stay.”
Rodrygo said: “The video was taken advantage of, considering the moment, with the Champions League final coming up. If you watch the video, the interview is all cut, it doesn’t show the end of the interview. When asked if I’ll spend my whole life at Real Madrid, I said I don’t have a way of knowing that. I said I want to be here forever, but I don’t have a way of knowing.”
